Dear Congressman

I, as an Icelander wich to inform you of the situation in Iceland since the banks collapsed in last Oktober. I am just one of the protesters in Iceland. One of many of the public who are protesting the terrible financial situation of the icelandic nation.

 The situation here is very awful. For example there was in the news here few days ago that the icelandic nation has now about 2.000 milljards icelandic kronas in dept. (in USA billons)That is very high dept considering the size of our nation, about 300.000 people.

It is rather strange that our government is still working considering of all what has happened on their own watch since the bank collapse last Oktober in view of the financial situation in Iceland. And since last April they were unable to see what was coming or knew something about it but yet didn't disclose that to the public. I personally think governments in other peaceful nations in the whole World would have already resigned. That is in fact any honest politicians would do!

Their actions has been very vague on how to deal with the situation. Yet they say everthing is fine and according to plan. But every day we see information in the news saying otherwise. F.e. the loan from the IFI has been used to try to push strength into the icelandic krona. Yet that has failed too. The krona is nearly around the same price since before they used the loan. Before they started to use the loan the 1 $ was around 147 kronas. After they used the loan (in november) the dollar went down to 116 kronas. Now today one dollar is around 127 kronas and going higher everyday. By looking at this action anyone can see that it has failed!

Yet the government declines to take responsiblity for their actions. It is like our government is on some other planet than the public here. It seems to me they do not know how to take responsibility of their actions and as such any government like that should not be able to function anywhere in the World.

The icelandic protesters has called for condemnation again and again of our government. We worry very much of what is going to happen in the near future. Still much more unemployment. Much higher cost of living for families. And much higher taxes to come. I can continue on and on.

We the protesters call for help and support from any decent politician in the World.
